Kenenisa Bekele Bio

Kenenisa Bekele is a long-distance runner born on 13th June 1982 in Ethiopia. From 2004 to 2005, he was the world record holder in 5,000 meters and 10,000 meters races. At the 2004 Olympics, he won silver in 5,000 m and gold in 10,000 m. He also competed at the 2008 Summer Olympics and won gold medals in 5,000 m and 10,000 m. Bekele has also had an outstanding career in the IAAF World Cross Country Championships.

In 2003, 2005, 2007, and 2009, he won gold in 10,000 m at the World Athletics Championships. He held the world record for 10,000 m from 2003 to 2011. At the World Athletics Championship in 2009, he became the first athlete to win the 5,000 m and 10,000 m races. In other 5,000 m races he has competed in, he won silver at the 2004 Olympics, bronze at the 2003 World Championship, and gold in African Championship.
