Kenny Bednarek (born October 14, 1998 in Rice Lake, Wisconsin, United States) is an American track and field sprinter. He is most renowned as the second man in history and the first American to break 20 in the 200m and 45 in the 400m. He broke both records on the same day.
Bednarek won gold in 400m at the 2019 NJCAA Outdoor and Indoor Championships. He also won gold in 200m at the 2019 Toyota USATF Outdoor Championships. He finished seventh in the 2019 IAAF World Outdoor Championships, 200m.
Bednarek’s performance took a slight dip late into the 2019 season following a hamstring injury. However, Bednarek came back strong in 2020 with a brilliant performance at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, setting a personal best of 19.68 to claim silver in the 200m. He also participated in the 2020 U.S. Olympic Team Trials winning silver in 200m and finishing fourth in 100m.
