Kimberley Walsh Bio

Kimberley Walsh, born Kimberley Jane Walsh on November 20th, 1981 in West Yorkshire, England is a British singer, songwriter, and actress that began her career as the character of Lyn Hutchinson on the soap opera Emmerdale.  She began her musical career two years after when she auditioned for the reality TV show Popstars: The Rivals.

For her audition for Popstars, Kimberley sang the song “Where Do Broken Hearts Go.”  She failed to make the final group of ten for the competition but was asked to come back when another contestant was disqualified.  Kimberly joined the other female contestants to create a girl group called Girls Aloud.  They released their first single in 2002 called “Sound of the Underground.” The single peaked at number 1 on the UK Singles Chart.  Kimberly and her group released their debut album, Sound of the Underground, in 2003.  The album was certified platinum in the same year. The singles “I’ll Stand By You,” “Walk This Way,” and “The Promise” all charted in at the number one spot.

In 2008 Girls Aloud released their second album called Out of Control. After the group when on hiatus, Kimberly released her solo debut album, Centre Stage, through Decca Records. In 2009 Kimberly won the Yorkshire Woman of the Year Award.
