Knife Party Bio

Hailing from Australia is the EDM duo Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillen, who teamed up in 2011 to form Knife Party. Originally, the two met and created the two-member band named Pendulum in 2002, in which they played drums and bass. However, in 2011, Swire decided to release new material under the name Knife Duo, appropriately titling his track “Not Pendulum”. They released their first EP under the second name late in 2011, entitled 100% No Modern Talking through Warner Bros. Records.

They followed this with their second EP entitled Rage Valley, made available in the spring of 2012. The EP eventually went to the #75 slot on the Billboard 200, and the song “Bonfire” from the album was played during an episode of the hit show Breaking Bad. Knife Party released the EP Haunted House in 2013, which did better on the Billboard 200 than their sophomore album, going all the way to #37 on the chart. They also teamed up with Swedish House Mafia to release Swedish House Mafia vs. Knife Party, released under the Virgin label.
