Kris Allen Bio

Kris Allen, born Kristopher Neil Allen on June 21st, 1985 in Jacksonville, Arkansas is an American singer and songwriter that began his musical journey playing the viola in elementary school. He began to pursue music professionally by playing in local bars.  In 2007 he self-produced an album called Brand New Shoes.

In 2009 he auditioned for the 8th season of American Idol. He advanced to the main competition. He performed a cover of the song “To Make You Feel My Love” which earned him a place in the top 11. He achieved the Top 3 where he performed an acoustic version of Kanye West’s song “Heartless.”  The song allowed him to move into the finals. In the finals he performed a duet with Keith Urban singing the song “Kiss a Girl.” He was then declared the winner of the competition.

After American Idol he released five singles that all charted on the Billboard Hot 100.  He then signed a deal with Jive Records in 2009 and released the album Kris Allen. The album debuted at number 11 on the Billboard 200. Kris would go on to release 4 more albums up to 2016: Thank You Camelia, Horizons, Letting You In, Somethin’ About Christmas.
