Kristofer Hivju is a Norwegian actor. He was born on December 7, 1978 in Oslo, Norway. Hivhu comes from a family of actors, as his father, Erik Hivju and his grandmother Inger Worren, were both famous actors in Norway. Kristofer decided to pursue his family steps and he studied at the Russian Academy of Theatre Arts (GITIS) in Aarhus, Denmark, from which he graduated in 2004. Hivju appeared along with his father in the short movie “Flax”, where he also shared screenwriting credit. He made his American debut in 2011 on the movie based on John Carpenter's book “The Thing”, directed by Matthijs van Heijningen. He then appeared in M. Night Shyamalan's science fiction movie “After Earth” in 2013. In 2011 he got a breakthrough when he played the role he is most popular for, Tormund Giantsbane on HBO's acclaimed series “Game of Thrones”.
