KRS-One, whose real birth name is Lawrence "Kris" Parker, is an American rapper and music producer who was born on August 20, 1965, in New York City. He started to gain popularity in the mid 80’s when he became part of the hip hop group called Boogie Down Productions, also known as BDG. After some years together, the band lost one of the members but KRS-One continued releasing music under the group’s name. He officially began his solo career in 1993 when he released his first album titled Return of the Boom Bap. Along his whole career, he has released a total of 17 albums and has collaborated with several artists including Mad Lion, Busta Rhymes, Das EFX, Fat Joe and R.E.M. Among his most famous songs we can find "Sound of da Police", "Love's Gonna Get'cha (Material Love)", and "My Philosophy". He also received awards at the VH1, BET Hip Hop Awards and Urban Music Awards. He has been part of the Bronx Walk of Fame since 2001.
