Born on January 3, 1980, Kurt Samuel Vile came from Lansdowne, Pennsylvania. He started recording his music when he was 14 years old. By 17, he started to release cassettes of his home recordings, musically influenced by the Drag City. In 2003, he began collaborating with Adam Grandunciel, forming the duo named the War on Drugs in 2005.
By 2008, Vile spent time with War on Drugs and his solo album “Constant Hitmaker.” As the War on Drugs’ fame grew, Vile decided to leave the band to pursue a solo career. In 2009, he reissued “Constant Hitmaker” under Woodsist label. Soon, “God Is Saying This to You” was released as well. In 2009, “Childish Prodigy” arrived and was considered the most-produced work of Vile.
