Singer-songwriter and actress Kylie Minogue was born Kylie Ann Minogue on May 28, 1968 in New South Wales, Australia. She is the older sister of pop singer and television host Dannii Minogue. Kylie began her acting career on Australian television at the age of eleven. In 1986, she was cast on the popular soap Neighbours. In 1987, she signed with Mushroom Records and released her first single, a cover of Little Eva’s “The Loco-Motion”, which reached #1 in seven countries. Her debut album, Kylie, was released in July of 1988 and contained the singles “Got to Be Certain” and “Especially for You.” Her second album, Enjoy Yourself, was released in October 1989 and contained the #1 singles “Hand on Your Heart” and “Tears on My Pillow.” In 1989, she made her film debut in The Delinquents.
Minogue released her third album, Rhythm of Love, in 1990 and followed that up with Let’s Get to It (1991), Kylie Minogue (1994), and Impossible Princess (1997.) During this time, Kylie appeared in the film Street Fighter opposite Jean-Claude Van Damme and co-starred with Pauly Shore and Stephen Baldwin in Bio-Dome. In 1999, she signed with Parlophone Records and released her seventh album, Light Years, in September of 2000. The album contained the Top 10 singles “Spinning Around”, “On a Night Like This”, and “Kids”, a duet with Robbie Williams. In November of 2003, Kylie released her ninth album, Body Language, followed by the greatest hits album Ultimate Kylie (2004) and 2007’s X. On December 25, 2007, Kylie co-starred on the Christmas special episode of Doctor Who titled “Voyage of the Damned. In 2010, she released her eleventh studio album, Aphrodite. The album’s lead single, “All the Lovers”, became her thirty-third top ten single in the UK. That same year, she recorded a duet with synthpop duo Hurts for their song “Devotion” and was featured on Taio Cruz’s single “Higher.” She also released the holiday EP A Kylie Christmas. In 2012, she released the compilation The Abbey Road Sessions. She has served as a judge for both The Voice UK and The Voice Australia.
In March 2014, Kyle released her twelfth studio album Kiss Me Once, which featured contributions from Sia Furler, Mike Del Rio and Pharell Williams. She is set to appear in the 2015 film San Andreas alongside Dwayne Johnson.
