Kym Whitley, born Kym Elizabeth Whitley on June 7, 1961 in Shaker Heights, Ohio, is an American actor and comedian. She had always loved performing and comedy, and so when the legendary actor and stand-up comedian Redd Foxx told her that she has potential, she decided to pursue her passion seriously. She first joined Shelley Garrett’s play entitled Beauty Shop, which wound up becoming a touring show. In 1992, she had her first television appearance on the series Vinnie & Bobby. She was then blessed with a steady stream of projects, such as The Parent ‘Hood and Martin (1995), Married… with Children (1996), Sparks (1996-1998), The Wayans Bros. (1998), Grown Ups (2000), and Moesha (2000), to name a few. In 2000, she made her big screen debut with the movie Next Friday. She was nominated for a BET Comedy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Box Office Movie for Deliver Us from Eva in 2004, and for a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting or Guest Actress in a Digital Daytime Drama Series for The Bay in 2017.
