Lady Leshurr, born as Melesha O’Garro on December 15th, 1988 in Solihull, England is a rapper and singer who began to write poetry and rap at the age of 6. By the time she was 14 she released her first mixtape. Growing up in a household where music was a constant she cites Lisa Maffia, Ashley Walters, Nicki Minaj, Missy Elliot and Lil Wayne as the primary influencers of her sound.
Using the mixtape format as her primary medium for getting her music to a wide audience, Lady Leshurr has denied multiple label advances to sign with them due to an unwillingness to compromise the artistic quality of her music. In 2015 she broke through to a wider audience appeal with the video for the fourth “Queen’s Speech” track went viral with over 10 million views at the time. Currently the video has over 46 million views.
After producing five “Queen Speech” tracks and videos she finally signed a deal with the label RCA. She then released the track “Where Are You Now” featuring Wiley and the sixth “Queens Speech” track on the label to major acclaim. In 2017 she released her first EP for the label entitled Mode.
