Brazilian pop and reggae band Lagum was established in Brumadinho, Minas Gerais, in 2014. Pedro Calais, Otavio Cardoso, Jorge, Francisco Jardim, and previously Tio Wilson made up the band. The band began their career by playing in this local music venue and is credited with writing all of the songs they performed. Seja o Que Eu Querer was the title of the quintet's first studio album, which was released in May 2016. In collaboration with vocalist Ana Gabriela, an acoustic rendition of the song "Deixa" was released in February 2018. The song, in this rendition, became popular and was among the most played in the nation. This increased the group's profile and allowed them to secure a deal with Sony Records and appear on television shows. They released Things of the Generation, their second studio album, in June 2019.
