Laura Benanti Bio
Tony Award-winning singer and actress Lauren Benanti, born July 15th 1979 in New York, started her career appearing in high school and local productions, and even won a Paper Mill Playhouse Rising Star Award for Outstanding Actress. Lauren first appeared on Broadway in a revival of The Sound of Music. Her love affair with the theater continued over the years as she performed in a long string of productions including Into the Woods, The Secret Garden, The Wedding Singer, Gypsy, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, Meteor Shower, and My Fair Lady. Benanti jumped into television and film, appearing in various projects including Starved, The Playboy Club, Go On, Royal Pains, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Nurse Jackie, The Good Wife, Nashville, Supergirl, The Detour, and Younger. Over the years, Benanti won Tony Awards for her performances in Into the Woods, Swing!, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, She Loves Me, Gypsy: A Musical Fable.
