She was influenced by artists such as Prince, Carole King and Patsy Cline. Before embarking on a solo career, she toured with her band under the name Laura and the Tears. When the group began to drift apart, she relocated to London where she began to work on establishing her own individual sound. In 2013, she released the songs “Cold Front” and “Unravel.”
In July of 2014, Laura Welsh released her self-titled EP which contains her current single “Break the Fall” as well as “The Hardest Part, a song she co-wrote with John Legend. Her vocals were also featured this summer on Gorgon City’s song “Here for You.” Her debut album is tentatively scheduled for release in January of 2015 and will contain a collaboration with Scott Hoffman of Scissor Sisters, among others.
