Layla Alizada is an actress who was born on August 11, 1977, in Kabul, Afghanistan. She grew up in Canada and studied acting at the Studio 58 Theatre School. She began her acting career at a very young age when she was scouted by an agent at just 13 years old and the tv series “KidZone”. In 2004 she got her breakthrough performances when she starred in the movie “Chasing Freedom” opposite Juliette Lewis and Bruce Gray. For this role she was nominated in both the Gemini and Gracie Allen Awards. Since then, she has appeared in many TV series, including “Da Vinci's Inquest”, “Criminal Minds”, “The Unit”, “The Mentalist”, “Days of our Lives”, “Scandal” and “The Muppets”. In 2015 she interpreted Feda in the Academy Awards nominated short film “Day One”. She is also known for playing Regina in the famous tv series “Jane the Virgin”.
