Leif Ove Andsnes was born in Karmøy, Rogaland, Norway on April 7, 1970. He founded the Rosendale Chamber Music Festival. In 2012, he was California’s Ojai Music Festival music director. In 2013, he was inducted in the Gramophone Hall of Fame. He also received honorary doctorates from the University of Bergen in Norway and Juilliard School in New York. In 2018, he released the Sony Classics of Chopin: Ballades & Nocturnes. During the 2017-18 season, he was the Artist-in-Residence of the New York Philharmonic. His work, “The Beethoven Journey”, received various recognition – BBC gave it the Recording of the Year Award in 2015 and the New York Times chose the series as Best of 2014. He received eight Grammy nominations, and he was the recipient of the Gramophone Awards six times.
