Leon Goretzka is a German professional soccer player born in Bochum in 1995. He started training for clubs at a young age, playing in the WSV and VfL Bochum since 1999. In 2012 he won the 2012 under-17 Fritz Walter gold Medal for his performance, and ascended to the professional Bundesliga category later that year. In 2013 he signed with Schalke, and played with the team for the 2014 and 2015 seasons. The young athlete also represented Germany in the U-16 and U-17 categories, leading his team to the finals in the 2012 UEFA Championship. As a senior he also took part in Germany’s preliminary team for 2014 FIFA World Cup, and played with the national team in the 2016 Summer Olympics.
