Talented violinist Lindsey Stirling was born on September 21, 1986, in Santa Ana, California. She picked up the violin when she was only five years old and continued to receive lessons until the age of seventeen. She was also part of a rock group while in high school named Stomp on Melvin, and it was during this time that she composed a violin piece for a rock song. This composition gained her widespread attention. In 2010, at the age of 23, she appeared on America’s Got Talent, performing as a hip hop violinist, but she did not wow the judges as she had hoped, who encouraged her to begin performing with a group. In 2011, alongside cinematography expert Devin Graham, she shot a music video for her song titled “Spontaneous Me”, garnered her immense attention. Since posting that initial video, she has gone on to collaborate with artists such as The Piano Guys, John Legend, and Pentatonix.
Lindsey Stirling embarked on her US tour in 2012, which she followed the next year with a European and North American tour. In 2013, she also re-released her self-titled album, which was followed in 2014 by the album Shatter Me. Both albums went to #1 on the US Dance/Electronic Albums Chart, although the second album outranked the first and went to #2 in the country.
