Ed Kowalczyk is the founder and former lead singer of the band LIVE. Along with Ed the other members of the band are, the guitarist Chad Taylor, drummer Chad Gracey and bassist Patrick Dahlheimer. Chris Shinn later took Ed’s place in the band.
Formerly known as Public Affection, but they changed it to LIVE in 1991. In 1994, LIVE debuted with the album titled, Throwing Copper, and the album sold over 8 million copies in the U.S.A. alone. LIVE’s second album Secret Samadhi only sold 2 million records. Even though that was still quite a lot, in comparison with the first album it was considered a failure.
LIVE later on released a couple of hit singles of which Lighting Crashes was the most popular. Lightning Crashes stayed on top of the Billboard hot mainstream for ten weeks in a row.
