Loretta Devine is an award-winning American actress and singer best known for her work in film and television. She was born in Houston, Texas, United States, on August 21, 1949. Loretta began her acting career in 1981 when she appeared in the drama film, Will. Loretta has since been a regular on the TV series Family Reunion, P-Valley, Doc McStuffins, The Carmichael Show, Being Mary Jane, The Client List, State of Georgia, Eli Stone, and Boston Public, but she became a household name when she was cast as the recurring character Adele Webber in the drama series Grey’s Anatomy which also features Ellen Pompeo, Chandra Wilson, James Pickens Jr., Sandra Oh, and Patrick Dempsey. Her filmography includes Beverly Hills Chihuahua, Waiting to Exhale, Crash, Tyler Perry's Madea's Big Happy Family, This Christmas, The Preacher's Wife, and Death at a Funeral.
