Lorrie Morgan was born on June 27, 1959 in Nashville, Tennessee. She first performed on the Grand Ole Opry stage at the age of 13 singing “Paper Roses.” She signed a contract with RCA Records and began writing and singing country hits such as “’Til a Tear Becomes a Rose,” in 1987, which won a CMA Award in 1990. Several of her songs including “Leave the Light On,” (1989), “Something in Red” (1991), as well as her “Greatest Hits” album (1999) all won Platinum Record Awards.
In 1994, she won CMA Album of the Year with “Common Threads: Songs of the Eagles.” She also won Female Vocalist of the Year in 1994, 1996, 1997, and 1998 from TNN/Music City News’ choice awards. More recently, she has toured with Enchanted Christmas Productions at the Opryland Resort in 2014, and also signed a contract with Shanachie Entertainment that produced her album entitled “Letting Go…Slow.”
