Coming from East Los Angeles, California, Los Lobos was formed in 1973. They were able to have their first hit in 1987 with their cover for the song “La Bamba” of Richie Valens. Back then they call themselves as “just another band from East L.A.” They won critics approval and tons of fans because of their music.
The band was formed by David Hidalgo and Louie Perez from Garfield High School in East Los Angeles. They then recruited Cesar Rosas and Conrad Lozano, putting up the band Los Lobos Del Este (de Los Angeles). In 1978, they released “Del Este de Los Angeles” album. In 1983, Slash Records signed a deal with Los Lobos releasing the seven-song EP “…And a Time to Dance.”
