Los Retros is the stage name of Mauri Tapia, an Oxnard, California-based Mexican-American indie rock singer-songwriter and producer born in 2000. Tapia made his way into music-making at a young age, as he learned to play instruments in an afterschool program and listened to his parents’ musical interests. As a teenager, he led the band Retrospect, a project that quickly turned into a one-man operation as the young artist decided to record and produce everything on his own. In 2017 he started releasing his songs and playing small venues in Southern California with a backing band. Two years later he came under the wing of producer Peanut Butter Wolf and signed with Wolf’s label Stone Throw as Los Retros. Later in 2019, he toured with Cuco and released his debut EP “Retrospect,” followed in early 2020 by a second EP titled “Everlasting.”
