Luis Ferdinand Vega, Jr., popularly known as Louie Vega, is a DJ, producer, remixer, and label operator born on June 12, 1965, in The Bronx, New York, USA. He has been active since the 80s, deejaying at clubs such as Studio 54, Devil's Nest, Hearthrob, Roseland, the Palladium, Area, 1018, and so on. After deejaying, he produced remixes, including Information Society's Running, What's On Your Mind, Noel's Silent Morning, Cover Girl's Because Of You, and Debbie Gibson's Only in my Dreams.
His production debut was in 1989 with Don't Tell Me for TVT and Keep Pumpin' It Up for SBK One. In 1991, he joined Atlantic Records and teamed up with Marc Anthony to produce Ride on the Rhythm, co-written with India & Derek Whitaker. Louie won a Grammy Award for Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical in 2003 for his work on an update of Curtis Mayfield's Superfly.
His albums include Elements of Life (2004), Elements of Life Extensions (2005), Elements of Life Eclipse (2013), Louie Vega Starring...XXVIII (2016), NYC Disco (2018), and Expansions In The NYC (2022). His record label, Vega Records, has released over 180 singles and 11 albums. Louie has worked under the Ministry of Sound Recordings, Defected Records, Kingstreet, Azuli, Division (Italy), BBE, Concept, R2, and Strictly Rhythm records.
