Lucy Bronze Bio

Lucia Roberta Tough Bronze (born October 28, 1991 in Tweed, England) is an English soccer player most renowned for playing as a right-back for the English national team and the French side Olympique Lyonnais. She is popularly known as Lucy Bronze, and has played with many prestigious clubs in England including Manchester City, Liverpool, Everton, and Sunderland.

Lucy started playing for Sunderland at the U-12 level. She captained the U-16 squad and in the 2007/08 season, was named the Coaches’ Player of the Year, having helped Sunderland to a third-place finish in the F.A. In December 2009, Lucy became the first British player to win the N.C.A.A. Cup.

Lucy represented England at various youth levels before appearing for the national team at Euro 2013. She wears the Jersey number two for the English national team. In 2015, she played in the World Cup and helped England to a third-place finish. She was also a part of England’s world cup team that finished fourth in 2019. In 2014, Lucy won the P.F.A. Player of the Year award. She won the award again in 2017. In 2018, Lucy was named B.B.C. Footballer of the Year. In 2019, she became the first English footballer to win the UEFA Women’s Player of the Year Award, edging out fellow teammates and finalists, Ada Hegerberg and Amandine Henry.
