Lucy Walker Bio

Lucy Walker (born in London, in 1970) is an actress, director, and producer most renowned for her theatrical-Esque documentaries. She has numerous projects to her name, ranging from documentaries, like Devil's Playground to short films like Blindsight, Waste Land, and Crash Reel.

Lucy grew up in London and attended Oxford University, where she graduated top of her class with a BA Hons and MA Oxon in Literature. She furthered her film education at the New York University's Graduate Film Program with a Fulbright scholarship, earning an MFA.

Lucy's debut documentary, Devil's Playground, which discussed the struggles of Amish teens won her first major awards (although she had already won Oxford University Dramatic Society awards). The film won awards at the Karlovy Vary and Sarasota Foo festivals and bagged three Emmy Award Nominations for Best Documentary, Directing, and Editing.

Her 2006 film "Blindsight," a story about six blind Tibetan teens climbing Mt. Everest was nominated for Best Documentary at the British Independent Film Awards and Grierson Awards in 2007.

The Netflix film, "Why Did You Kill Me?" is one of her most recent projects.
