Luis Miguel, born Luis Miguel Gallego Basteri on April 19, 1970, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, is a true icon in Latin America. Because of his beautiful voice and successful music career, Luis Miguel is often referred to as Es Sol de Mėxico (The Sun of Mexico). Over the years of his career, he has performed in a variety of music styles including pop, jazz, tangos, ballads, mariachi, and many other styles. Luis Miguel has won many awards since the start of his career back in 1982 and has won his first Grammy Award at the young age of fourteen for his duet Me Gustas Tal Como Eres on which he collaborated with Sheena Easton. He is to this day, the first male artist to win this award at that age. Luis Miguel was also the first Latin artist to have been awarded two Platinum albums for his success with the albums Romance and Segundo Romance. He has been recognized by Billboard with his Top 10 hits on the Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs.
