Luke Steele is a musician born on 13th December 1979 in Auckland, New Zealand. He is a member of the band the Sleepy Jackson as well as the music duo Empire of the Sun. They founded The Sleepy Jackson in 1998 with his brother Jesse (drums) and Matthew O’Connor (bass). In 2000, they went on a national tour with the rock band Jebediah. In March 2001, they toured with Motor Ace and Magic Dirt. However, he had to finish the tour as a solo after other members of the band returned home.
In 2002, he released “Caffeine in the Morning” under the EMI records. They released their second album, “Personality – One Was a Spider, One Was a Bird”, which made its debut at #10 on the ARIA Albums Charts a week later. In 2007, he formed the music duo Empire of the Sun with Littlemore. They released the album “Walking on a Dream” in October 2008, which debuted at #8 on the ARIA Chart and peaked at #6. He started his solo career in February 2022 with the release of his first album, “Listen to the Water”.
