Marie McDonald McLaughlin Lawrie, widely known as Lulu Kennedy-Cairns, is a singer, actress, and TV personality born in Lennoxtown, Stirlingshire, Scotland, on November 3, 1948. She is associated with several record labels, including Decca, Atco, Music for Pleasure, and Mercury. She is best known for singing the title song for James Bond's The Man with the Golden Gun.
Lulu represented the UK at the 1968 Eurovision Song Contest, winning with the song Boom Bang-a-Bang. She received nominations for World Female Singer at the NME Awards. In 2002, she released Together, featuring Paul McCartney, Elton John, Cliff Richard, Sting, and Ronan Keating. Her discography includes Making Life Rhyme, To Sir With Love (The Complete Mickie Most Recordings 1967-1969), The Atco Sessions, and I'm Back for More.
Lulu participated in the BBC's Strictly Come Dancing in 2011. Her classic hit single Shout was performed at Glasgow's 2014 Commonwealth Games closing ceremony. She received the CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) in 2021. She has appeared on Reasons to Be Cheerful with Matt Lucas, Good Morning Britain, and This Morning.
