Lupillo Rivera (real name Guadalupe Rivera Saavedra) is a singer and songwriter from the United States. He won the Grammy Award in 2010 for his album “Tu Esclavi y Almo”. Growing up, Rivera wanted to become a restaurateur. He was hired by his father, who owned a studio, to work at the studio when a singer who had been contracted failed to report to work. His first task was to look for spot talent in bars and bring them to the studio, where they would sign with his father’s label.
He started singing under his name “Lupillo” in 1999, having already signed with Sony Discos. His breakthrough came at this point. The following year, he won the Premios lo Nuestro Awards. He received nominations for three songs: “Entre Copas y Botellas”, “El Tiro de Gracia”, and “Tu Esclavo y Amo”. He won Grammy Awards for the song “Tu Esclavo y Amo”.
