Russian film and theatre actress Lyanka Gryu was born on 22nd November 1987 in Moscow. She made her first film appearance at 4 in the short film ‘One’. The film received several awards across Europe. At 6, she was offered the chance to host ‘Tic-Tac’, a children’s TV show. In 1997, she received her breakthrough role in Vladimir Grammatikov’s ‘A Little Princess’. She bagged the Best Actress Award at the Orlyonok Film Festival and the Bykov Moscow International Children’s Film Festival. She went on to act in the film ‘Triumph: Diary of the Red’, by Oleg Pogodin. At 19, she joined the Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography. Her career blossomed in 2009 with two films, ‘The Treasures of Cardinal Mazarin’, and ‘The Return of the Musketeers’. She also learned fencing and horseback riding for these roles. She played the role of Irene Adler in a TV series based on the adventures of Sherlock Holmes along with Igor Petrenko. She has also worked in the popular FX TV series, ‘The Americans’ ,and independent films like ‘Impossible Monsters’, marking her entry into the American entertainment industry.
