Lyoto Machida Bio
Lyoto Carvalho Machida, popularly known only as Lyoto Machida, is a Japanese and Brazilian professional Martial Artist and karateka who was born on May 30, 1978, in Salvador, Brazil. He is signed with Bellator MMA and is part of the light heavyweight category. Under the management of MMA legend Antonio Inoki, he debuted as a professional wrestler in 2003. In 2006 he signed with the UFC, where he competed until 2018, the year in which he signed with Bellator MMA. During his career at the UFC, he participated in 24 fights winning 16 of them. He also received the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship and defended his title successfully against Mauricio Rua. He received the knockout of the night four times, fight of the night three times and performance of the night twice.
