M. Ward Bio
Matthew Stephen Ward, better known by his stage name M. Ward, is an American country music singer-songwriter and musician born on October 4, 1973, in California, United States. Ward draws inspiration from folk and indie rock music while also expertly incorporating blues influences into a country framework. He first emerged on the music scene with the independent release of his debut album Duet for Guitars #2 followed by the second album End of Amnesia. Despite being wonderfully composed, both albums didn’t do much for his popularity. However, his third album Transfiguration of Vincent proved to be a success and roped in many fans. In 2007, he formed a duo with actress and singer Zooey Deschanel and released their debut album Volume One which attracted excellent reviews. In 2016, he resumed his solo work releasing yet another collection of soulful songs with More Rain. His hunger for versatility and unwavering love for music also saw him becoming a member of indie pop duo She & Him and folk-rock supergroup Monsters of Folk.
