Hailing from France is the five-piece band known as M83, which formed in 2001 by musician friends Anthony Gonzalez and Nicolas Fromageau. Though they released their debut album that same year, but did not experience a breakthrough until 2005, when their record was picked up and re-released by Mute Records. They also gained fame with their sophomore album Dead Cities, Red Seas & Lost Ghosts, which was released in North America in 2004, and later with the albums Before the Dawn Heals Us in 2005, Digital Shades Vol. 1 in 2007, and Saturdays = Youth in 2008. M83 then embarked on the UK leg of the Kings of Leon tour, shortly before touring with The Killers in the United States. They would go on to release the album Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming in 2011, composed the soundtrack for the 2013 film Oblivion, and went through a few lineup changes. As of 2014, M83 consisted of Anthony Gonzalez, Morgan Kibby, Jordan Lawlor, Loïc Maurin, and Ian Young.
