Madlib is an American DJ, multi instrumentalist and record producer born as Otis Jackson Jr. on the 24th of October, 1973, in Oxnard, California. He began his career in the early 1990s, first by joining the rap group Lootpack which catched the ear of Peanut Butter Wolf, the founder of the Stones Throw label. In 1999, Lootpak released two singles and a LP on the label. During those years, he also formed part of the band The Alkaholiks. In 2000, he released his first album under the alias Quasimoto, which was very well received. A year later, he released the album “Angles Without Edges” alongside Yesterday’s New Quintet, a jazz electronic band. In 2015, he released the album “Bad Neighbour” alongside MED and Blue. He has done collaborations with artists like Freddie Gibbs, Kanye and Talib Kweli among others.
