Magnum is a hard rock band hailing from Birmingham, part of the 1970s “Brumbeat” movement that gave the world Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, and half of Led Zeppelin. Their current members include original member Bob Catley (lead vocals), original member Tony Clarkin (lead guitar, vocals), Al Barrow (bass, vocals), Rick Benton (keyboard), and Lee Morris (drums). Catley and Clarkin signed to the Jet Records label in 1978 and released their debut album, “Kingdom of Madness,” to a #58 position on the UK Albums chart.
Magnum had a hiatus from 1996 to 2001. But outside that, they have released twenty studio albums, a decent number of which peak in the top-ten album charts in the UK, Sweden, and Germany, while the albums “On a Storyteller’s Night” (1985) certified gold and “Wings of Heaven” (1988) certified silver in the UK. Their 1986 album “Vigilante” was produced by Roger Taylor of the band Queen fame. They have shared a stage with artists including Bon Jovi, Metallica, Marillion, and ZZ Top.
