Mumu Fresh is the stage name of the American rapper and singer Maimouna Youssef. She was born in Baltimore, Maryland on March 12, 1985. She graduated from Duke Ellington School of the Arts in 2002. In 2007 she was nominated for a Grammy Award for her collaboration with The Roots on the song “Don’t Feel Right.” She released her debut EP Black Magic Woman and her debut studio album The Blooming in 2011. In 2017 she released a collaboration album with DJ Dummy titled Vintage Babies that featured the artists Ivin Washington, Common, and Malik Yusef. Youssef has shared the stage with the artists Nas, Common, Ed Sheeran, Queen Latifah, Sting and others. She has also performed with the trio Three Generations with her mother Nataska HumminBird, and her grandmother, Navasha Daya.
