Mairis Briedis is a professional boxer from Latvia. He was born on January 13, 1985, in Riga, which is the capital of Latvia. He is a three-time cruiserweight world champion, having held the titles of IBF and Ring since September 2020, WBC from 2017 to 2018, and WBO in 2019. He has also held the IBF and Ring titles since September 2020. In 2017, when he won the WBC title, he made history by becoming the first boxer from Latvia to ever hold a world title. In 2017, he was bestowed with the honour of the Order of the Three Stars. As a professional, he has competed against world champions such as Oleksander Usyk, Manuel Charr, Yuniel Dorticos, and Marco Huck, among others. BoxRec, The Ring, and the Transnational Boxing Rankings Board all agree that, as of the month of June 2021, he holds the title of best active cruiserweight in the world.
