Malala Yousafzai was born in Mingora, Pakistan on the 12th of July 1997 and currently resides in England. An activist for the education of women, author and a digital influencer, the young Nobel Prize laureate came to prominence as a child when she defended women’s right to education against the Taliban within her home town of Swat Valley.
Previously a blogger for the BBC, she is well known for surviving an attack on the Taliban and becoming a prolific public speaker and advocate for education. The subject of the documentary He Named Me Malala, she has also created a memoir I am Malala. Online the fund she has set up, titled the Malala Fund has over 800k followers on Instagram, and the advocate has over one million followers on Twitter. She utilises both platforms to spread awareness for female education.
