Mallary Hope Whitener was born on June 21, 1987 in Cohutta, Georgia. She fell in love with country music as a kid and she grew up singing in her father’s church. At the age of 9, she travelled with her parents to Nashville, Tennessee. She later formed her first band when she was just 12 years old. She wrote her very first song at the age if 15 and she managed to record 500 “demos” at home when she was just 17 years old.
Hope released a digital EP entitled “Love Lives” on August 4, 2009. This song reached number 57 on the U.S. Billboard Hot County Songs charts. Jon Caramanica from The New York Times included Mallary in a piece about the new people in country music. Hope’s second single titled “Blossom in the Dust” was released on the radio in February of 2010. Hope co-wrote Lauren Alaina’s 2011 single “Georgia Peaches” along with “The Locket,” another song on Lauren Alaina’s debut.
