Marcos Alonso Mendoza is a professional soccer player born in Madrid, Spain, on December 28, 1990. He played at the youth academy of Real Madrid from 1999 to 2008. He made his professional debut for Real Madrid Castilla in 2008. The wing-back scored three goals in 39 appearances before leaving the club in 2010.
Marcos joined Bolton Wanderers in 2010 and Fiorentina in 2013. During his time on loan at Sunderland, the team emerged as runner-up in the 2013/14 Football League Cup. He joined Chelsea FC in 2016, playing 154 games and scoring 25 goals before leaving for FC Barcelona in 2022. Marcos appeared in three matches for Spain's U19 team.
At Chelsea, Marcos won the 2016/17 Premier League, the 2017/18 FA Cup, the 2018/18 UEFA Europa League, the 2020/21 UEFA Champions League, and the 2021 UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup. Marcos made the 2017/18 PFA Team of the Year. He was on the Spanish national team that emerged as runner-up at the 2020/21 UEFA Nations League.
