Marduk is a Swedish black metal band that was formed in 1990 in Norrköping, Sweden. The members of the band include Andreas Axelsson, B. War, Bogge Svensson, Fredrik Andersson, Joakim Grave, Morgan Steinmeyer Håkansson, Richard Kalm, Legion, Magnus Andersson (also known as Devo) and Mortuus. The band’s name was inspired from the ancient Babylonian deity, Marduk.
Marduk released its debut full-length effort Dark Endless in 1992 under No Fashion Records. The band later switched to French Osmose Productions and released Those of the Unlight in 1993. Opus Nocturne followed in 1994 and Heaven Shall Burn...When We Are Gathered in 1996. Nightwing appeared in 1998 as well as La Grande Danse Macabre in 2001. In 2003 they released World Funeral which was followed up by 2007’s Rom 5:12. Their 11th album Wormwood appeared in 2009.
