María Conchita Alonso Bio

Maria Conchita Alonso (born Maria Concepcion Alonso Bustillo) is a Cuban-born actress, born June 29, 1957. After living for 5 years in Cienfuegos, Cuba, she emigrated with her family to Caracas, Venezuela. She quickly became a child model in Venezuela, where she appeared in both movies and advertisements. In 1971, when Conchita Alonso was 14 years old, she became Miss Teenager of the World, and at 18 she was Miss Venezuela. Her modeling success enabled the young actress to play in several Venezuelan movies and ten Spanish soap operas. With her acting career on the rise, Conchita Alonso moved to the U.S. in 1982 and starred in her first English-speaking Hollywood movie Moscow on the Hudson (1984), alongside the actor/comedian superstar Robin Williams. The role of Robin Williams' love interest in Moscow on the Hudson gained Alonso universal acclaim as a supporting actress. She since performed several supporting roles in movies such as Running Man (1987) alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger and Caught (1995) which earned the actress an Independent Spirit Award for Best Leading Actress. Maria Conchita Alonso is also an accomplished singer with numerous gold and platinum records and three Grammy nominations.
