Maria McKee is an American singer and songwriter who was born on August 14, 1964, in Los Angeles, California. As a teenager, Maria studied musical theatre and started to perform in different clubs around LA. as a duo with her half-brother and guitarist Bryan MacLean. She formed the rock band, Lone Justice, with Ryan Hedgecock in 1982. The band released two albums in 1985 and 1986, but they were a failure and Maria then decided to begin her solo career. Her first self-titled album was released in 1989 having Mitchell Froom as a producer. In 1990 she started to gain popularity when the song “Show Me heaven” was featured in Tom Cruise movie “Days of Thunder”, but her biggest breakthrough was with her second album titled You Gotta Sin to Get Saved in 1993. The album’s song “If Love Is a Red Dress” was part of the Pulp Fiction soundtrack. She released her third album Life is Sweet in 1996, which was followed by a break from music. She released High Dive in 2003, Peddlin’ Dreams in 2005, and Late December in 2007. She stopped creating music for many years up until 2020 when she released La Vita Nuova.
