Mariana Pajón (born October 10, 1991 in Medellin, Colombia) is a professional BMX Rider, best known for winning gold medals at the 2012 and 2016 Olympic Games and 2013 UCI BMX World Championships. She has won more than a dozen titles over the course of her career.
Growing up in a family deeply involved in sports, Mariana's mother, Claudia, excelled in horseback riding and swimming, while her father, Carlos, actively participated in amateur motorsport events and cycling. Given this athletic background, it was inevitable that Mariana would develop a passion for sports.
Introduced to biking at the tender age of three, Mariana quickly embraced BMX racing and began participating in events. Remarkably, she clinched her first national championship at the age of five. Mariana had the honor of being the flagbearer for Colombia at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
Mariana is associated with Liam Phillips, a renowned figure in BMX racing who has secured victory in the UCI BMX World Championships. Together, they form a dynamic connection within the BMX community.
