Mariana’s Trench is a Vancouver pop band, led by frontman Josh Ramsay. Ramsay was born into a musical family; his father owned a sound studio and his mother was a vocal coach who toured with Leonard Cohen. Ramsay subsequently wrote and practiced music for his teen years. By the 2000s he had assembled the line-up Matt Webb (guitar), Mike Ayley (bass), and Ian Casselman (drums).
Mariana’s Trench has been touring through most of this century, opening for Simple Plan, performing at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, the Canadian headlining tour Face The Music, headlining the Canadian Radio Music Awards, and yes, even being nominated for a Grammy as well as winning a Juno and a slew of Canadian music honors. Of their four albums, two have certified gold and two platinum.
