Marianne Jean-Baptiste was born Marianne Ragipcien Jean-Baptiste on the 26th of April 1967 in Camberwell and is an English actress singer, songwriter and director. With a career that took off in the social drama film Secrets & Lies, she received a Golden Globe and Academy Award nomination for her work, and went on to a successful music career, acting as a writer and composer for Mike Leigh’s film Career Girls.
The actresses career began in small roles and she soon became known for work in films such as A Murder of Crows, 28 Days, Jam and City of Ember. Her best known television roles include, Without a Trace, where she portrayed Vivian Johnson alongside actors such as Poppy Montgomery and Anthony LaPaglia, as well as Blindspot where she plays Bethany Mayfair.
