Mario Bio

Mario Dewar Barrett (August 27, 1986), popularly known mononymously as Mario, is an American R&B singer-songwriter and actor. Mario is widely known for his 2004 R&B hit, ‘Let Me Love You’. The single now has 430 million plays on Spotify and has been nominated for a Grammy for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance in 2005. The now 37 year old was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland and was discovered at the young age of 15. He recorded his debut single, ‘Just A Friend 2002’ which was re-released under his self titled album in 2002. ‘Just A Friend 2002’ was a chart topper, landing at number 3 on the US Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and number 4 on the US Billboard Hot 100. Mario’s second album was released in 2004 titled ‘Turning Point’. It was a commercial success and was Grammy nominated for Best Contemporary R&B Album. ‘Turning Point’ contained his single ‘Let Me Love You’, which was written by Ne-Yo, also launching his solo career. Mario’s smooth R&B vocals are highly recognized which led to his third album, ‘Go’ producing early 2000 hits such as ‘How Do I Breathe’, ‘Crying Out For Love’ and ‘Music For Love’ co produced by Timbaland, The Neptunes, Akon amongst many others. This was followed by his fourth album, ‘D.N.A’ in 2009. Mario is dignified as an early 2000’s R&B icon and continues to make music, with his most recent release, ‘Dancing Shadows’ in 2019.
