Mark A. Jackson is an American retired professional basketball player and coach who played as a point guard in the NBA from 1987 to 2004. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, United States, on April 1, 1965.
Throughout his career, he played for several teams, including the New York Knicks, the Indiana Pacers, and the Golden State Warriors. Jackson was a highly skilled and intelligent player who was known for his court vision, passing ability, and leadership qualities. He was a three-time NBA All-Star and won the NBA Rookie of the Year award in 1988. Throughout his career, he amassed 10,334 assists, which ranks him third on the NBA's all-time assists list.
After retiring from playing, Jackson went on to become a successful NBA coach, coaching a Golden State Warriors side that featured Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson from 2011 to 2014. Under his leadership, the Warriors improved significantly and made it to the playoffs twice.
