Marky Ramone, born Marc Steven Bell, is an American drummer who was born on July 15, 1952, in New York City. He began his career as a musician as part of the rock band Dust during the late ’60s. He joined Richard Hell & the Voidoids in 1977 and together they released the album Blank Generation. He started to gain recognition in 1978 when he joined the popular punk rock band The Ramones replacing Tommy Ramone, and where he got his current nickname. Together, they released over 10 albums and gave thousands of shows until 1996, where the band parted ways. Marky Ramone then created a new band called The Intruders, with whom he released 4 albums. He also collaborated with different rock artists and bands like Misfits, Osaka Popstar and Bluesman. In 2010 he was awarded the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award and later formed the band Marky Ramones Blitzkrieg, continuing releasing music and touring.
